"O what tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive." I am not sure where this statement comes from but it sure holds true in one form or another in our lives. Let me say that deception is the same as a lie in progress, because the consequences are the same. As I was growing up and even today I have observed over and over the art of deception. Deception can also be called betrayal. Jesus was betrayed by Judas for 30 pieces of silver. The deception led to Judas's death. He committed suicide. I have been deceive many times in my life and sad to say I have also deceived others myself. This deception can lead to tragedy of all proportion and we should avoid it at all cost. There is another saying that goes "honesty is the best policy". That is so true in our everyday lives. GOD'S word tells us not to lie, but to be honest with each other. Satan tried to deceive JESUS into sinning but it didn't work. There are people in this world who have gotten rich from deception. They prey on innocent and unwitting people. So I am saying that when the bible tells you to beware of the devil, JESUS is not saying this lightly. Satan is the Father of deception a.k.a. lies. He will go out of his way to deceive the saints if that is possible. Some day, and I believe this will be very soon, the biggest and worst deceiver will come in the form of the antichrist. When we deceive we sin, for it is a form of lying. The problem with deception is that it, as all sin does, affects not just us but all those around us. So please be honest and don't get trapped into deceiving people. If you do GOD'S wrath will not be far away. © Copyright 2001 by John and CIndy Thomas
