Job 1:20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, I began with these verses for a reason. These verses are a few verses that cover what I am about to talk about this week. The United States is a capitalistic country, Everything is based on money and earthly possessions. People work several jobs and neglect their children for the almighty dollar. Our worth is measured by our riches or lack of. This country is in a rat race to out do each other and everyone else. Millions of people around the world are starving while we grow fatter everyday. We go on vacations, Cruises, unnecessary trips, spend millions of dollars each year on entertainment. We waste what we have, and throw things away that are reusable every day. When we are up and running, God is put on the back burner or on a shelf. But the minute we get ourselves in financial trouble we blame GOD for our troubles. The truth is we do it to ourselves, by not listening to GOD. We beg and plea and some even curse GOD for the troubles we bring upon ourselves. Try to get us to spend one little penny for the work of GOD and we become outraged. We accuse the ministers of just being money hungry rip offs, and we are not going to support their rich habits. Now mind you there are ministers that are false preachers. But let us not use them as an excuse for not giving to GOD. You probably think that I am apposed to any Christian being wealthy. Absolutely not, GOD blessed Abraham with earthly wealth. HE also gave Job a lot of wealth too. The difference is, that these men of GOD, were happy in whatever situation they were in and were willing to give what ever GOD asked of them. They were also willing to accept what ever fiery trials GOD allowed to come in their path without whining about it. GOD asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son, and Abraham obediently did, however GOD stopped Abraham from killing his own son and provided the sacrifice for Abraham to use. Abrahams faithfulness to GOD saved his sons life. He trusted GOD completely. Job was a very wealthy person in his time, but when GOD let Satan strike Job down, kill most of his family, and destroy everything he had. Job remained faithful and grateful to GOD. Even Job's own wife told him to curse GOD and die. Job refused. The point is that whatever we have, great or small, comes from the LORD. We need to be grateful and not greedy. When we were born, we were naked. When we die we will leave this world with nothing from it. That means if we spent our whole life building up earthly treasures. We will loose it all and have nothing in the next world. But if we lay up our treasures in heaven. We will be wealthy beyond description in heaven. Finally I would like to repeat what Job said, when he was so terribly afflicted by satan." Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall. I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." © Copyright 2001 by John C Thomas Sr.
1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away;blessed be the name of the LORD.
1:22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
