Thought For The Soul
Count the Cost
By John and Cindy Thomas

Christ the Anchor

"If you can't do the time don't do the crime." This was a sentence in the theme song of an old TV show called "Baretta". This is so true of all of our lives. Everything we do has a cost. Now we launch into the subject I wish to address my readers about.

I strongly believe that everything we say or do has a consequence, good or bad. We seem to not take into consideration about the results or costs of our decisions.

Decisions, not only affect us but others as well. Some have little cost some have enormous cost. So why are we not counting the cost? Even GOD'S word tells us to count the cost. Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? 14:29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, 14:30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

Yes, the gift of salvation is free, but to follow JESUS has a cost. Sometimes it can cost our very lives. That little girl in Columbine high school who was killed for her faith, I am sure counted the cost and realized she could not afford the cost of denying her LORD. So she didn't. She counted the Cost, and as hard as it seems, paid the ultimate price for her love of JESUS, and that was her life. Could we count the cost as she did?

Some, have said it costs to much to follow JESUS. The truth is it costs to much not to follow JESUS. But even so The Word of GOD says to count the cost before you decide.

Everyone one of us should count the cost of our actions, and decisions, and the things we say to each other.
